I am deeply compelled to write this review after witnessing the consistent mistreatment of my father at Broward Nursing and Rehab. It is with great regret that I share my experiences, which are backed by both video and photographic evidence, highlighting the facility’s severe neglect and failure to provide adequate care. If you value the well-being of your loved ones, I strongly advise against entrusting them to this facility.
My father was admitted for rehabilitation and, after a few months, we made the decision to transition him to long-term care following a stroke that left him unable to walk. Initially, the care provided was satisfactory, and for the first three months, he was well-maintained. However, around the fourth month, I began to notice a concerning odor that had never been present before, which prompted me to inquire about his hygiene.
When I asked the staff if he was being showered regularly, I was informed that he was bathed only once a week, which I found unacceptable given the physical condition of most residents. I raised concerns about the potential for bacterial buildup, even in less active individuals, and was told the facility was understaffed. I suggested that the facility should not accept more patients if they were unable to provide the necessary care. After this, my father’s bathing routine improved for a time, but within a month, it was once again neglected. Despite my continued complaints, the staff claimed that my father was refusing to bathe, yet according to the facility’s policy, family members should be contacted if this occurs. We were never notified.
In response, my mother, who visits the facility several times a week, began to bathe my father herself. Despite the fact that paid staff should have been performing these duties, my mother felt it was her only option. She was afraid that continued complaints would lead to even worse treatment.
On another occasion, my father became ill and began vomiting. My mother called to inform the staff, and they assured her that he had only vomited once and that they were administering medication. When I visited the next day, my father was still vomiting and appeared weak. I made further inquiries, but my calls were met with rudeness, and I was transferred to unhelpful staff members. After demanding to speak with a higher authority, I was connected with someone who sounded more responsive, but the situation still remained unresolved. By Monday evening, my father’s condition had not improved, and I demanded he be taken to the hospital. After an uncomfortable exchange with the staff, my father was finally transported to the hospital, where it was revealed that his condition had been exacerbated by the facility’s lack of proper care.
In a separate incident, a family friend contacted me to report that my father had been crying during her visit. He had repeatedly requested a change of clothes, but his needs had been ignored. After I called the facility, it took over an hour for them to address the issue, despite reassurances that it would be handled immediately. When I followed up, I was informed that the person I had spoken to had left for the day, and my father had still not been attended to. After raising my voice in frustration, the staff reluctantly responded to his needs.
There have also been multiple instances of pressure ulcers, one of which has significantly worsened despite being told it was healing. Physical therapy claims were also misleading, and my father confirmed that these treatments were not provided as promised. Despite requesting the contact information for the corporate office on several occasions, I was repeatedly met with evasive responses.
Currently, my father is hospitalized due to complications related to the facility’s negligence, and I have yet to receive an apology or any communication from the facility regarding this matter. I am actively working to have him removed from this facility, and I urge anyone considering this place for their loved ones to seriously reconsider.

After my ICU stay for septic shock, I was transferred to Broward Nursing & Rehab, after choosing from a list provided by the hospital I was in
I totally made the right choice! It might not be the fanciest or newest facility, but the care I got there was top notch! The staff always took the time to chat or pop in to see how I was doing. Whenever I rang, there was no wait. Friendly, wonderful people work there- you won’t be disappointed.
I was impressed with the nutrition- they came to my room to discuss likes, dislikes , etc. They also tailored the food to what was eaten or not, which I thought was really great. And although I couldn’t eat much, the food was very good. And visitors could order from a menu!
Unfortunately, I was isolated bc of infection, so I didn’t really get to see what recreation or activities were offered, so I can’t comment, but I did have PT/OT in my room. The therapists were knowledgeable and kind, and helped me gain my mobility back. Thank you to all.
There were so many staff, that I can’t begin to name them, but you all made my stay a wonderful transition from hospital to home. I sincerely appreciate all the care I received
Thank you!

My friend was admitted, & the
care was unprofessional. Upon entering the room, they don't introduce themselves or the dept they're from. When my friend asked for something, they would say "ok, be right back" , & they never returned. They didn't give her all of the prescribed meds& when asked about it or anything, the reply is always" I don't know". It seems that training is needed for staff, at least every 6 months. This would ensure that everyone is in the same page
